Positive Footprints- 2013 Cubby House Challenge
Story
It is an honour to be participating in the Cubby House Challenge and contribute to a great cause. It is also a great opportunity to make real some of the fun ideas we and our kids have. Our “Enchanted Tree” Cubby is made for the young and the young-at-heart. We hope someone will love it and take it home.
The Kids Under Cover Cubby House Challenge brings together members of the building industry to design, build and decorate highly creative and unique children's cubby houses for public viewing and subsequent raffle and auction.
The 2013 cubby houses will be on display at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show from March 20 to 24.
You can help us to prevent youth homelessness by donating, purchasing a raffle ticket or bidding on your favourite cubby house (our cubby of course!).
We gladly introduce the following sponsors to our team:
Activity
Kids Under Cover
Being homeless can happen to anyone.
On any given night, there are more than 116,000 people experiencing homelessness in Australia and nearly half of these are under the age of 25.*
For more than 30 years, Kids Under Cover has been working to prevent youth homelessness.
We know that if young people are not properly supported when they first experience homelessness, they have a higher chance of becoming homeless in their adult lives. Around 40% of homeless adults were first homeless as young people.**
In our work, we focus on early identification and prevention of youth homelessness, creating a proactive rather than a reactive approach to this very complex issue. We do this by building homes and providing scholarships for homeless and at-risk young people.
